DARKNESS COVERED THE LAND
Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.
(Mark15:25 Third Hour cf Acts 2:15 - 9:am- 6th hr = 12:00 9th Hour = 3:pm)
~ Total darkness was reported as 2 minutes 43 Sec or less 8/21/2017
~ Maximum length for a Solar Eclipse 7.5 Minutes.
~ Longest Recorded one - 6 min. 54 Sec - 3/7/1970
~ Longest Solar Eclipse from 4000 BC to 8000 CE 7/16/2186
IT WILL LAST 7 MIN 29 SEC (NASA.GOV)
But the darkness that the gospel writers speak of was not a solar eclipse … …
IT WAS AN ACT OF GOD!

This could not have been an eclipse of the sun, for the Passover was celebrated at
the time of the full moon, when the moon is opposite to the sun. Luke says Luk 23:45
that “the sun was darkened,” but it was not by an eclipse. The only cause of this was
the interposing power of God - furnishing testimony to the dignity of the sufferer,
and causing the elements to sympathize with the pains of his dying Son.
Three Hours of Darkness occurred @ crucifixion.
~ Mathew records no sound from Jesus or the crowds during this time.
3 hour for the savior to suffer
.. A collage student in a experiment was tied to a wooden cross, not nailed but tied
with ropes. He lasted less than five minutes.
NEARING THE END OF THE THREE HOURS OF DARKNESS:
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,
"ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is,
"MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?” … (from Psalm 22:1) .
John 8:29 And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
Jesus knew all about loneliness but here in these three hours He was to experience it.
….. IT BROKE HIS HEART…
HE DID IT FOR US! FOR ALL OF US! FOR EACH & EVERY ONE OF US!
